A-Level Program at KCISEC

An Introduction to the A-Level Program

The A-Level program is an advanced level course for the General Secondary Education Certificate Examination in the United Kingdom. It is a basic education system widely used in the world. There are currently more than 11,000 universities in 160 countries that recognize this qualification. More than 5 million students take the A-Level exams each year, and with this qualification, the students can directly enter the first-year of universities in many countries (including Cambridge, Oxford, Harvard, Yale and other world-renowned universities).

A-Level Program at KCISEC

KCISEC is currently a certification school and examination authorization center from the OXFORD AQA , and with a completed A-Level curriculum system (IGCSE and A-Level curriculum).

The IGCSE and A-Level courses of KCISEC will start together in the coming Fall. Students can enjoy all the resources and support of the Oxford AQA Examination Bureau, as well as the unique and comprehensive school-based curriculum to help meet the overall development and individual needs of each student.

An Introduction to the OXFORD AQA

Oxford AQA is a partnership between Oxford University Press (OUP) and Assessment and Qualifications Alliance (AQA).

OUP is a department of the University of Oxford and the first book was printed in Oxford in 1478. Today, the press is the largest university press in the world, publishing for three primary markets: research, education, and English language teaching.

AQA is by far the largest provider of GCSEs and A-levels in the UK. Its qualifications are taught in almost all of England’s 6,000 schools, colleges and learning centers, and each year AQA marks over 7 million exam papers.

Exam Schedule and Advantage

The A-Level exam of the Oxford AQA has the following characteristics:

1. IGCSE students can take the exams during the May exam season after all G10 courses are over. If the exam results are not satisfactory, the student can apply for a re-take in the coming Nov.

2. Oxford AQA International A-levels are modular. The exam center also allow students to retake single papers as many times as they wish, so if students miss out on a preferred grade, they can retake the paper they performed weakest in rather than the full qualification.
